A few ways to encourage children to sleep is by explaining the importance of getting rest and perhaps creating a reward system for children who nap. If they have trouble falling asleep they can be patted or petted until they fall asleep which in most cases will do the trick.

Child care providers have a responsibility in providing a good sleeping environment that is comfortable and safe for the children in their care, and some of the ways to help children in your care get enough rest is by planning ways to adapt rooms to help children feel at home during nap times. A child used to a noisy sleep environment might sleep better in a noisy class room setting, while busy toddlers will benefit from a peaceful quiet environment free from noise and stimulation. Parents can be encouraged to provide a familiar item from home, like special blankets of soft toys if it helps the child at nap time to sleep or rest.
