To keep the children engaged and continuously learning, the environment must be continuously and consciously changed to provide new stimulation for the children. A stagnant environment can only maintain a child’s interest so much; a constantly evolving environment will cause children to notice the changes around them and will stimulate their sense of learning. These changes, ideally, should be all over the classroom. Changing or adding noticeable portions of a classroom is good, but more subtle changes can be valuable too. Changing the books on a bookshelf, adding children’s artwork to the walls, placing new materials within the children’s reach; all of these things can keep the environment engaging for the children.
