I think that th biggest thing to do to make all families feel like they are being supported is to listen to their concerns and let them know that they are valid and worth bringing up and talking about. Having conferences are a great way to o this along with open communication between teacher and parents. This can also be done with providing literature and resources when there is a problem or need for them.

Early childhood care providers of young children often establish the first connections parents have and therefore influence parent’s attitudes toward involvement. These first connections may be respectful and supportive or distant and cold. But the initial experiences in the early childhood environment for both children and their families should be caring and nurturing. Just as the early years are crucial for children’s learning, they are also critical in establishing parents’ patterns of involvement. If parents are not involved in their children’s early school experiences, they probably will not become involved as their children grow older.
