Each center is to develop and implement written behavior management and guidance practices to be posted for everyone to see. Behavior guidance is based upon an understanding of the individual child’s needs and stage of development; promoting appropriate social behavior, self-control, and respecting the rights of others while ensuring guidance practices are fair, reasonable, consistent, and related a child’s specific behavior. There should be no cruel, unusual, hazardous, frightening, or humiliating discipline or withholding of food or liquids as punishment.
