Communication with families generally entails giving a positive about the child's day, before starting with anything that might've happened "Johnny had a great day today! He loved playing with Suzie on the swings, however he had SO much fun that he had a potty accident. He also did this awesome Art project today!" Something along those lines, simple quick, and just starting a basic human interaction with parents bonding about their child's day.
