Preparing an environment prior to children arriving is very important as this will promote positive experiences and therefore a positive behavior in children. For example, a messy and disorganized environment, in which children cannot find materials easily, will discourage them and this will reflect negatively towards their learning and behavior. The preparation of the environment (the behind-the-scene-work) will provide opportunities for children to learn and develop in an effective way. For example, when the teacher prepares the environment prior to children arriving, he or she can prepare a variety of different activities that are age appropriate and place at a child’s level in order to stimulate their learning and independence. Furthermore, providing enough interesting materials will be beneficial as children will be less likely to engage in negative behavior because of a lack of resources. Additionally, the teacher can prepare different skill set areas that children will be able to explore according to their needs and interests. Moreover, having a beautiful, organized environment with furniture will discourage rough running. It is also very important to adapt and modify the environment in order to meet the needs and interests of children and therefore support their learning and positive behavior in an effective way.
