Being an effective communicator with the parents of the child in your care starts with first asking if the information you are presenting to them is something they would want to inquire more about. Secondly, being descriptive when describing good attributes about the child is better than a generic comment. Also, when the parent has a claim about a child's progress its important to support their opinion and explain your own as well. Collaborating with the families on how to better the child's success is a key factor in the caregiver learning how to reach the desired goal with that child.
