It takes patience and understanding. As a teacher, your views may collide with the views of the parents and at that point, it is important to understand where the parent is coming from. Make sure to communicate with the parent's everyday about their child's day. If there is something "negative" that happened in the child's day that you need to notify the parents about, I always use the sandwich method: positive, negative, positive.
