Knowing the family is an important part of getting to know the child in your care and personalize the classroom environment and curriculum according to their background. Some families speak other languages at home. Getting to know the family and learn of their culture can better help the care taker understand how to enrich the experience of each child. For example, if a child speaks a different language at home other than the language in your center it would be beneficial to use few words of that language to help the child feel welcomed and for the other classmates to learn about their classmates family and home language.
