The information gained through observation helps a teacher know the different developmental ranges among their students, which can vary up to 2 years or more with children of the same age. They can also find out what interests or skills a child has outside of their age-range and use those to the advantage of students who need to acquire skills and it also helps you identify students with special needs who may need to have the activities modified at times.
