We as providers can support families in this role by recognizing that families are the experts on their child. The best care comes when families are treated with respect and acknowledged as their child's most important teacher.

Childcare providers can support families in this role through understanding that families are the primary educators of the child. Moreover, by understanding that families are experts regarding their child/children. Therefore, caregivers must respect the child’s family and acknowledge them as the primary educators. Furthermore, by partnering with parents caregivers are able to support families and support the child in the most positive and effective way.

By having good information on each student through regular observations, a provider can share this with the parents of that student and the parents can use this information to continue the to work with the students at home.

A provider can help by telling what the child was learning in class that day as well as maybe send little homework sheets to keep the child practicing what they learned that day.

Childcare providers can help families with this role by giving positive and negative feed back for things to possibly work on at home. By giving positive feedback it can tell the families what they are doing well and things their child has mastered or does well.

Childcare providers can support families in their role as primary educators by working to create partnerships based on respect and trust. Ask the child's family for information concerning what the child most enjoys learning/doing, how the child learns best, and if they have any areas of concern. Communicate openly and honestly with the child's family concerning the child's areas of strength and weakness, and help families identify and connect families with appropriate community resources when needed. Supporting children means supporting families.

They can support families by giving negative and positive feedback and realizing that the families know more about the child than you will.
