Routine is very necessary for children. Many children need to have expectations of what is going to happen next in there day in order for them to feel in control. It helps create a stable environment and also helps children learn time, because they can begin to expect when something is going to happen, for example lunch time means that it is 11:30 etc.

Is it necessary to have a daily schedule and routine for children? If so, why?
Yes! Even though young children cannot tell time, a routine can help them learn the time of day by paying attention to when specific activities begin and end. Establishing a daily schedule will help children feel safe and secure as well as promote growth in all developmental domains.
