In working with four and five year olds, we would build our own food group plate--each day we would focus on one food group with activities that had to do with that food group. And at least one of the activities would be cooking. The children learned about the importance of each food group and got to sample something which belonged in that group.

A very simple one would be to make prints of the food chart on harder stock paper and then cut the pieces out or let older children cut their own with supervision and and then put the pieces back together like a puzzle.
