Some of the things needed are stacking blocks, dramatic play area with props, clothing and furniture, dolls that accurately reflect cultural groups, squeeze toys, filling and dumping containers, musical instruments, books, felt boards.
For outdoor environments some of the things needed are places to climb, ride, explore and run.

Play materials would include thinking games like puzzles, things to build with like leggos, things to encourage dramatic play like dress up clothing or career equipment. There should be art supplies and books and soft things like stuffed animals.
Outside, there should be safe and secure environment. There should be a climbing structure and space to run, there should be areas where shovels or balls or outdoor toys can be used, and there should be an area where a child can sit down if they are hurt or tired.

What types of play materials, equipment and activities should you provide for children? What is needed in an outdoor environment?
It is important that children have a variety of learning environments and activities to choose from. Some ideas for play materials include: building blocks, dress-up clothing, art projects, puzzles and books.
An outdoor environment needs to be a safe and secure space where kids can climb, play with balls, run around and interact with other children.
