In my classroom, common illnesses that my infants have are colds, diarrhea, pink eye, ear infections, and upset stomachs. Runny noses are the most common symptom children have, which can be due to colds, pink eye, ear infections or upset stomachs (due to swallowed mucus). Diarrhea is multiple loose or runny bms in a short period of time. Pink eye can begin with a cold or ear infection and develop into red, goopy eyes. Ear infections are trickier, but tugging on ears or irritability can be signs of an ear infection. Upset stomachs are usually accompanied by vomit or diarrhea.
