Caregivers can take the lead in developing a positive relationships with families. By welcoming families when you first meet and making them feel comfortable, caregivers can set a relaxed and open tone for the relationship. Caregivers should also ask families lots of questions about families and children, showing a genuine interest in them individually. When problems arise, a caregiver can build on the positive foundation they've established with families. They can do this by being direct with families about problems, asking them for their input, and then offering advice and support without trying to solve the problem completely on their own.
