In order to plan lessons for young children, a few things should be considered. A teacher needs to understand the child developmental stages so that the lessons meet the children where they are at. Teachers should also consider the individual interests and learning styles of each child in the group, being willing to tailor the lesson to fit the group. The time of year and previous experience of the children should also be taken into consideration. By watching the children play and listening to them talk, a teacher can learn what interests each child and plan lessons that build on the children's interests.
