Infants and toddlers need clean surfaces and safe furniture in their environment. Learning to pull themselves up, they need structures that are free of sharp edges, not too tall, and are sturdy enough to be pushed or pulled without falling over. Because they love to put things in their mouths, infants and toddlers need toys that are large enough to not be swallowed. These toys should be all different textures, colors, and shapes, with the exception of sharp things that could hurt the children.
