Confidentiality is essential in the parent-teacher relationship. Teachers need to work together wth parents to support a child's development and wellbeing. This cooperation is only possible if parents feel they can share things with the teacher. The information a teacher receives from parents about the home environment and the other parts of a child's life allows them to better care for the child in the classroom. But if parent-teacher trust is broken and information of shared with other, parents may not feel comfortable sharing information with the teacher in the future. This disrupts the flow teamwork between home life and school life.
