I am a lead teacher in an infant classroom. My lesson plans usually begin with something I'm currently interested in or a children's book that I've read, or from other teachers I speak to. From this, I plan activities for each developmental stage from the state guidelines. Each day I have a book relating to that week's theme, with activities that tie in specifically to the book or the overarching weekly theme. These can be large motor activities, relationship building, songs, crafts, science/nature activities and outside time. Planning a week takes over an hour, not including trips to the library for books or prep time each day.
