YES!!! It is very necessary. The children are in a classroom with up to 19 other children. Giving the children the ability to have a daily schedule/routine helps them to know what is happening next. Some children in my classroom will come up to me and say "We are having nap time now, but after nap time we have snack, then recess, then mommy comes!!!" This is just like when you are driving, if you know of a landmark near the place you are going you know you are close, You see a gas station and you know the next road up is your destination. The same is for children. They need those landmarks to know how close they are to their destination.
