I prefer using the Child Skills Checklist. I like that it's quick and easy--you just need to check off what milestones or indicators are observed. It's simple to use, so training is minimal. It requires no daily computer time if sheets are printed off and placed in a student's file. The indicators make it simple to create opportunities to observe children as well. The drawbacks are that you do need to have a strong knowledge base of childhood development, and you miss out on detailed observations that you can have in the High Scope observation tool.
