1. My family influences my thinking more than anything. I was raised by two strong and independent parents who both worked full-time, so I value hard work. They also raised me to value experiences more than material things, so I tend to spend my money on experiences with others rather than buying things. They also were both very active in community service and made sure my siblings and I took an active role in helping our community throughout our childhood and now our adult lives. Neither of my parents are religious so I was not raised with a religion, but I had religious family members and a religious daycare provider so I was exposed to and gained an understanding of church and religion my whole childhood.
2. It is easy to get frustrated when you and another person have differing points of view. People tend to debate/argue and sometimes it can lead to anger. I think it is important to take the time to listen to another person's differing view and attempt to understand it even though you may not agree with it. Respecting and hearing their opinion may open your eyes to a way of thinking you hadn't considered before and you may change your mind. They may give new evidence that you didn't have before, or give a personal account that gives you more insight. Or, you may not change your view but instead just gain a better understanding of that individual and why they maybe make some of the choices they do. Whether you change your views or not, taking the time to ask questions and calmly gain a better understanding of another person's point of view and unique life experiences that make them think the way they do is a good outcome to a difference of opinion.
