Greeting children and their parents warmly and by name is a small act that goes a long way. Having the classroom ready before the children arrive makes it easy for them to get right into learning. Also, making sure that you have culturally diverse material in the classroom will help make families of any background or culture feel welcome. You can encourage staff to collaborate with children and their families by modeling what that behaviour looks like, asking questions to the families and the children and listening to their concerns and input. Modeling good behaviours doesn't just work with children, everyone can benefit from having a positive role model for what it looks like to build a good relationship with the families in your care, your job is to strive to be that role model and encourage your coworkers to follow suit.
