1. Milestones are markers that show significant movement from one stage to another in development. They are important because they are the most observable ways for people to see growth especially in children who can't communicate their progress. 2. Red flags are signs that show that a child might be developmentally delayed.

1. Milestones are skills that are to be expected by a specific age such as cognitive, social, physical, intellectual and emotional traits. 2. Red flags are an indication that the child is not meeting these milestones and possibly could be a bit behind but in some cases may need further evaluation to see if there is an underlying reason.
