1. The behavior is on key to what a toddler would do in this situation. 2. I would explain that this is exactly how they learn to share and learn to find a way TO share. If they don't want to share the toy, then it's only fair that either the person who had it first gets it back or neither one gets the toy. 3. Toddlers act this way because they have not completely developed there reasoning yet. They are still learning and have to be taught what sharing is and why they should share. 4. The way I would have made sure this didn't happen again is to give the toy to the person who had it first and distract the other student with something else.
