All children need to have communication with others in order to Thrive. A child who has never had a friend cannot successfully learn how to share or be a friend because they have never learned it. They need to learn from, not only adults, but other children there age. For example, my son never knew how to open a door. It was easy to get him to sleep at night by closing the door, checking constantly of course, and not worrying that he would get out. Once he went to daycare and met a friend, he was able to learn from that friend how to do it. It was a great development for him and he was able to learn it from another child.
