First step is to get down to the child's eye level and ask them what happened and let them explain completely so that they feel understood and heard. Second is to take control and redirect the child gentle but firmly Third step would be the "stress release" phase, where a child will cry ad throw a tantrum, you sit and supervise until they are finished and then sit and listen again until they feel better.
The hardest would definitely be he stress release phase because it's so hard to listen to a child cry and have patience with them while doing so.
