Making sure that you have good objective observations that support your reasoning
Having resources available to the parents for taking the next steps to follow your recommendation
Going over what you are going to say before you meet so you are better prepared for any challenges you face.
Parents might be hesitant to hear, hesitant or accept that their child needs special help. You may need to help them factually accept it as well as emotionally accept it.
