How can you create a welcoming environment, encouraging staff to collaborate with children and their families?
NOTE: I am not sure if I should be answering this question.
If I was a lead teacher working in a program that implements academic lessons and the development of children a way that I would have a welcoming environment is within the realms of the area we would be working in have different and identifiable cultures displayed on the walls. I would have traditional displays and also an area that children are able to add to this wall so that if there are things that the child cannot identify with they are able to add to it creating an inclusive environment. I would also have posters that explain the importance of understanding others cultures and beliefs as well as signs of a safe and open environment promoting a safe and anti-bully place for children to flourish and enjoy themselves. The collaboration of children and their families would be a requirement for my staff. I would have specified trainings for my staff to develop family engagement skills and also training relating to diversity in the "classroom". These trainings will help build and help "my" staff to structure and create fun and educational lessons on relatable topics for all children. I would also encourage staff to get to know the children they work with through stories of their own that the kids can relate to and also get to know them.

I try to make a welcome environment by greeting the parents every morning when the come to drop off their child and when they pick tem up and to make sure to tell them any concerns o I have and how they would like me to handle it and to just keep them in the loop about whats going on.
