You should always provide materials that are age and developmentally appropriate. The materials should be in distinct play areas and should promote creative play and exploration. They may be, stacking blocks, magnetic shapes, dramatic play area with props, clothing and furniture, dolls that accurately reflect cultural groups, squeeze toys, filling and dumping containers, musical instruments, books, felt boards.
Outdoor areas need space, supervision, injury protection and prevision, and site maintenance. They should/may include places to run and climb, as well as balls, stacking materials, wheelies, open play stage, and a sandbox for sensory exploration.
