For starters both areas need to be big enough for how ever many children you watch. In an indoor play area needs to make sure that the toys aren't little enough to choke on, all chemicals and cleaning supplies should be out of reach of the children. An outdoor play area need to make sure that all equipment is strong enough not to break while children play with it, have sealed wood chips so the children don't get splinters if they happen to fall.
