This is a complicated question that depends a lot on culture and the individual preferences of the family. We often will discuss problems at school with the parents, and they will work with the children to correct the problems. In some cases, however, the parent says "What he/she does in your class is not my issue." Frankly, we have very few issues, and we support families by keeping them informed of how WELL their children do. We rarely have to mention things that aren't so good.
