Spend time getting to know each child and what makes them tick. I like to have all my families get together once a month at a common ground, park or pizza shop and spend time with the family as a whole. They truly become extended family!

Children like to be with their teacher or caregiver spending time to gather and have some simple conversation when teacher or caregiver can ask some open question like how was your week end ? or what activity do you like to do when you are at Home ? all this conversation will make a child to feel free and tell you about himself and his environment outside the school (at home)

Getting to know families of the children you care for. Communicate with mom or dad whoever is the daily pickup. Im a closer so i see the same people pick their kids up at the end of the night and its good to ask how their day was or tell them that their child hasnt been sleeping well at nap time, and if he/she is like that at home. Asking how their weekend was or asking them how he/she is at home because i have some kids at my work that are different at school then they are at home. Shows the parents you care about them.
