The first step in helping abused or neglected children is learning to recognize the signs of child abuse and neglect. The presence of a single sign does not prove child abuse is occurring; however, when these signs appear repeatedly or in combination, you should take a closer look at the situation and consider the possibility of child abuse.

Child abuse is not always obvious, but by becoming familiar with the most common signs of physical abuse, emotional abuse and neglect, the abuse can be catch as early as possible and the child can get the appropriate treatment they need. And it is important to know that just because a child might display signs of changes in their behaviors, in their appearance, in their emotional attitude does not necessarily mean that the child is being abused or neglected. But if you notice a pattern of warning signs for child abuse, the child probably needs help.
