1) Yes, his behavior is appropriate, he is at the age where this is a normal part of development. 2) By explaining that he is just in a stage of separation anxiety and does not want to be away from his mom(primary caregiver), even though he must. 3) Because it's a normal leap that they go through to have separation anxiety from their primary care giver. 4) Not until the child is out of this leap, so you would work with the parents or caregivers to make this transition and hard time for the child as smooth as possible
