1) Milestones are specific abilities or actions marking a significant stage in a child development. Most milestones are achieved by a certain age and occur in all developmental domains. Milestones are important because they are used to measure a child's achievements and needs, if a child hasn't a milestone by a certain age, it may be cause for action.
2) Red flags are warning signs that development may be delayed or atypical, usually noticed when a child doesn't meet milestones as expected. Red flags are usually just cause for action, not alarm and are not usually something to get overly worried about.
