There are four components that will make up a successful outdoor play area for children. The four components are: space, supervision, injury protection and prevision, and site maintenance. The area is required to have at least 75 square feet per child. The children should be active when outside either play on the jungle gym or playing an imaginary game.

To be able to have a successful outdoor playground you will need to consider four components: the space itself (must have at least 75 square feet per child for the maximum number of children using the outdoor play space at any one time), supervision in the space (all areas need to be visible to all teachers at all time), injury protection and prevention and site maintenance. As well as variety of toys and equipment for the kids to use their imagination.
