2.2: What are some of the special requirements for infants and toddlers in an early learning environment?
Infants need a lot of tactile, but safe, things to explore. Often the box might be more interesting than the toy, so even things like plastic plates and cups of varying textures and colors will fascinate many infants. It is important to keep in mind that infants explore with the mouth, and almost everything available will, at some point, go in.
Toddlers need more space to work with gross motor skills. However, stiff books, cloth books, or other things that encourage the development of finer motor skills are also very important.
I don't work with either group, so I'm really not coming up with much more.
