Culture is described in the article very well in this quote, "Culture influences our values, expectations of behavior, social customs, and basically how we live our lives. Culture is an integrated pattern of knowledge, beliefs and behavior that weave a group of people together." (Chapter 1:a) Culture all depends on where one is living and where one grew up. I have had recent culture shock, because I just moved across the country after getting married. I lived in Tennessee for the past 11 years so I am used to the southern hospitality and comfort of everyone is family. I was also very accustomed to the cost of living in Tennessee. We moved to Seattle, Washington 4 months ago and have experienced an entirely new culture. The Northwest is filled with the "green" and healthy mentality. I am used to the southern fired chicken and one trash can to throw things away. Also, the people are extremely different. Both have their positives and both have their negatives. I love the driven minded, outdoorsy people who live here, however, I miss the family aspect and friendly people from the south. These are just a few examples of culture that I have personally experienced.
