It is important to have a daily schedule as it ensures the balance of activities throughout the day. Routines are also important because since young children cannot tell time, they can learn the time of day by the sequence of activities and routines. Furthermore, routine provides a sense of security, because children are able to predict what is going to happen next. Additionally, appropriate routines meet the developmental needs and abilities of children, as routines help children gain a sense of their own identity and self-worth.

I feel its best to keep a schedule for kids in a center because the children will be able to know what to expect in the day. A schedule also keep me as a professional to place a range or interests based on the subject matter for that week which keeps the kids involved and more curious to learn new ideas and toys within their environment.

It is important to have and follow a daily schedule and routine. Young children cannot tell time, but they can learn the time of day by the sequence of activities and routines set in place by caregivers, and predict what happens next. Routine and consistency provide a sense of security. Appropriate routines meet the developmental needs and abilities of the children and help children gain a sense of their own identity and self-worth. The daily schedule also helps the care-provider ensure a balance of activities throughout the children's day.
