Discussion 2.4: What influences your thinking?
List things that influence your thinking or point of view. (Answers might include things like family, religious beliefs, media, education, peers or political affiliation.) Try to prioritize your list.
I believe many things influence my thinking, here are some of mine:
a. Religious Beliefs
b. Education
c. Peers
d. Media
Reflect on the ways people respond to one another when points of view differ. Do we ever change our views? What kinds of things influence us to change our perspective?
People may respond to one another when their points of view differ in many ways; they may feel:
:ashamed- that they have said a point of view that might have been not true, and they felt defeated.
:criticized- that the other person put them down.
:Agree- they might agree and accept another point of view, and be grateful to have learned some new information.
Of course we always change our views, whether it is some new food/drink we started preferring, when we tasted a newer option, to a political stand point of view, when we learned of the consequences of our previous choices was not favorable.
I believe facts and data greatly influence us to change our perspective, because there is no denying it.
