Holding a relationship with the family and child could get quite tricky. You as a teacher or child care provider you are entitled to your own opinion however when working with the families that don't do things the way you'd like them to be done is difficult to help support that family in showing the child the "right" way. You and the child will have a different relationship then you and the family simply because you work with the children 5 days a week and only see the parents a few times. It is important to communicate with the families on the status of their child(ren). Being sensitive to the lifestyle of each family is crucial as well.
