In order to communicate effectively with families, I must forge positive relationships withe the families of the children in my care. Effective communication relies on a combination of great listening skills and asking the right questions. I should ask about their expectations and desired outcomes for my program and answer any doubts they might have.

Positive parent and caregiver communications benefits both parents and staff, and the way caregivers communicate and interact with parents affects the quality of parents' home involvement with their children's learning, sometimes negative communication can discourage parent involvement by making parents feel they cannot effectively help their children, so there should always be understanding and respect when communicating with families.
