i would ask parents what they think about the child's development, have any written observations ready for them to read that show what the child's teachers see in his/her development. Make sure that parents know what resource is available for them under any circumstance. id tell them what it is there child does well and what they should work on more.

When I talk with parents about their child's development. I start out the conversation with positive energy. I make sure to praise their child and let the parents know how much their child is appreciated in class. I continue to explain about the specific skills mandatory to achieve at the child's age. I later show them my observation list, which provides them with information about their child's growth, development and recently learned skills. I continue to explain what the child had achieved and what the child needs to work on.
