to communicate effectively with families you should always be honest with them, as well as keeping in mind how they feel on the subject. try to talk to them in a way that they will understand and that is productive. always try to point out something good that the child does when discussing tough issues. most parents want to be on the same level as you so them can help there child learn. often times it works best to just be upfront with the parents.
