Getting to know children and families in our care.

One of the best things is to remember a lot of families and children will be very different for you or your child. Everyone is different and these children spend time with both their families and their teachers and classmates. They will learn things from both the classroom and their families, not just things they are actually taught but also things they see or hear and more. One of the best things is to help the kids to understand how to accept and what acceptance is. Teach kids that their beliefs and culture may be different and that it is ok.  They also need to know that they need to respect others. Getting to know the children and their families can come from teaching them many of these things they tend to tell you about their lives.

Every child and their family will be different from one another, including yourself. So taking time to know your kids in your class through communication, interaction, absorption with them as well as with their parents are few vital techniques that will help you in getting to know them. Knowing your kids will help you with teaching them about acceptance and respect for themselves as well as for others in their beliefs, culture, language, etc. Teaching them that being different is okay, that there is nothing wrong with being a different race, speaking a different language or having different beliefs.
