Good communication with families is comprised of a few different things: respect, discussion, inclusion, and support. As a caregiver, your relationship with a family begins with showing them that you understand ad respect how you interact with their child. Rather than trying to tell them that you know better, listen and provide helpful and positive feedback for them to improve their techniques. Discussion is key to communicating effectively with families. When parents drop off and pick up their children, you should ask many questions about the child's day, habits, and responses to things as well as informing the parent about the child's day. To communicate effectively with families, parents must understand the way a caregiver operates. This is one reason why including parents is ideal. By inviting parents into the care setting, you give them the chance to see how you handle different situations and interact with their children. Lastly, communicating well with families necessitates supporting parents in their endeavors. When conversing about challenges or goal, supporting a parent's plan and methods is key.
