Sometimes, children recognize that they can ask for help, like if they are trying to reach something too high up for them. Other times, they may be at a point where they don't realize they can ask for help and instead they start to cry or "act out" - maybe strike another child or scream. If the problem is deeper or perhaps more long term, the cry for help might manifest in more consistent ways, like attention seeking through bad or good behavior.

they may isolate themselves from the rest of the group, they may act out and be aggressive with other kids, staff and even themselves, they may cry or yell out or do things that they know they are not supposed to do.
