Although I have no experience in a child care setting yet, in my personal life I like to see people who are not dismissive of what a child has to say. They will listen to them and take direction from them, if they are playing together or if the adult is watching the child while the parent steps away for a moment. It's nice to see close contact with the child (picking them up, holding their hand, leaning in so the child can whisper a secret). It makes the child feel important and respected.

I have seen others try and speak with child on their level and figure out what is happening to upset the child. Instead of just assuming they are having a little tantrum and putting them in time out.
